About
Genya Shinazugawa is the hot-tempered younger brother of the Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa — a Demon Slayer who cannot use Breathing techniques and never needed to. After their mother was turned into a demon and tore their family apart, Genya fled believing his brother had murdered her, and spent years hardening himself within the Demon Slayer Corps, determined to grow strong enough to stand beside the brother he once condemned.
What makes Genya extraordinary is his monstrous ability to devour demon flesh and temporarily claim their power for himself — healing his wounds, swelling his strength, and even absorbing Blood Demon Arts such as the wooden calamities of Upper Rank Four Hantengu. Armed with a Nichirin shotgun whose pellets can tear through a demon's neck, he fought through the Swordsmith Village and took his place at his brother's side against Upper Rank One Kokushibo in the Infinity Castle — finally making peace with Sanemi as he faded into ash with the dawn.
Abilities
Demon Eating
By devouring demon flesh he temporarily transforms himself — gaining the demon's strength, speed, and healing as his own, a power no other Demon Slayer possesses.
Blood Demon Art Absorption
The abilities of demons he eats become usable for a time — from Hantengu's wooden calamities to the bladed power of Upper Rank One Kokushibo himself.
Nichirin Shotgun
A shotgun forged from the same ore as Nichirin blades, firing pellets that can blow a demon's head apart and sever even an Upper Rank's neck at close range.
Demonic Regeneration
While transformed, wounds that would kill any human knit closed in moments, letting him keep fighting after losing limbs and taking fatal blows.
Immense Strength & Durability
His demonified body swells with muscle and resilience, letting him trade blows with demons far above his rank and shrug off attacks that felled stronger slayers.
Unbreakable Resolve
Without Breathing techniques or demonic blood of his own, he clawed his way up the Corps ranks through sheer grit to stand beside the brother he lost.
Notable battles
Genya's battles blazed with stolen power — from the Final Selection that first tested his resolve, to the Swordsmith Village where he devoured the flesh of Upper Rank Four Hantengu's manifestations alongside Nezuko and the village's young slayers, to the nightmarish Infinity Castle clash against Upper Rank One Kokushibo beside Sanemi, Muichiro, and Gyomei, where he grew a demon's blade from his own body and paid the ultimate price. He faded with the sunrise he had fought his whole life to earn — at peace, at last, with his brother.
