About
Tanjiro Kamado is the kind, determined protagonist of Demon Slayer, a charcoal seller's son who lived a humble life with his family on Mount Kumotori in Taisho-era Japan. Everything changed when he returned home one day to find his family slaughtered by the demon Muzan Kibutsuji, with only his younger sister Nezuko left alive — transformed into a demon.
Refusing to give up on her, Tanjiro trained under the former Water Hashira Sakonji Urokodaki and joined the Demon Slayer Corps in search of a cure. Guided by an extraordinary sense of smell and a compassion that extends even to the demons he defeats, he has fought through the Twelve Kizuki, awakened the Demon Slayer Mark, and inherited the legacy of the original Sun Breathing — all to end Muzan's reign of terror and bring Nezuko home.
Abilities
Water Breathing
His first breathing style, taught by Urokodaki. Fluid, adaptable forms such as Surface Slash and Water Wheel let him flow around any opponent's attack.
Hinokami Kagura
The Dance of the Fire God, a ritual passed down in his family. Its fiery forms, including Dance and Clear Blue Sky, are the root of the original Sun Breathing.
Enhanced Sense of Smell
Detects demons, emotions, and openings in an opponent's defense by scent alone, and can trace enemies across great distances.
Demon Slayer Mark
A flame-like mark that appears on his forehead, dramatically boosting his strength, speed, and heart rate beyond normal human limits.
Transparent World
A state of perfect awareness where he perceives the opponent's body, muscles, and intent, allowing him to anticipate and counter every move.
Total Concentration Breathing
Constant Breathing maintained round the clock, strengthening his stamina and regeneration so he can keep fighting through brutal injuries.
Notable battles
Tanjiro's struggles against Rui at Mount Natagumo, Enmu aboard the Mugen Train, Gyutaro and Daki in the Entertainment District, Hantengu in the Swordsmith Village, and Akaza and Muzan in the Infinity Castle each tested his body and his resolve — from first discovering the Hinokami Kagura to pushing past death itself, standing against the king of demons until the dawn finally broke.
