About
Aoi Kanzaki is the head caretaker of the Butterfly Mansion, the Demon Slayer Corps' recovery house, where wounded slayers are treated and rebuilt. A survivor of the Final Selection, she wears the Corps uniform but has chosen a different path from the sword: medicine. Blunt, strict, and quick to scold patients who push themselves too hard, her sternness hides a deep well of care — she has simply dedicated her life to bringing back every slayer the demons nearly took.
Her greatest test came after the Mugen Train, when three badly wounded survivors were carried through the mansion doors. Aoi treated them around the clock and, together with Kanao Tsuyuri, drove their functional recovery training until they were fit for battle once more. When the Corps launched its final assault on Muzan Kibutsuji, the Butterfly Mansion became a field hospital, and Aoi worked without rest at the heart of it — living proof that not every hero of the Demon Slayer Corps carries a sword.
Abilities
Expert Medical Care
The finest medic in the Corps' service. She cleans, stitches, and dresses the wounds of Demon Slayers, and her treatments have saved lives the demons nearly took.
Rehabilitation Training
Together with Kanao, she runs the Butterfly Mansion's functional recovery program — grip strength, flexibility, and the stampede game — restoring wounded slayers to fighting shape.
Wisteria Medicine
Skilled with remedies and salves — including wisteria-based treatments — that ease pain, fight infection, and speed the recovery of slayers maimed by demons.
Final Selection Survivor
She passed the grueling Final Selection on Mount Fujikasane and wears the Corps uniform with pride — though she is candid that she survived it without ever swinging her sword at a demon.
Steadfast Nerve
Demons terrify her, yet she never abandons her post. From tending the wounded to facing down the war's chaos, she works with steady hands no matter the danger.
Household Leadership
She supervises the young caretakers Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho, keeps the mansion's stores stocked and running, and scolds even her fiercest patients into resting properly.
Notable battles
Aoi's battlefield is the infirmary. After the Mugen Train disaster she received the three unconscious survivors and drove their recovery, running the stampede-game training beside Kanao until every one of them could fight again. She also tended the wounded brought back from Mount Natagumo and the Entertainment District. When the final assault on Muzan Kibutsuji began, the Butterfly Mansion became a field hospital, and Aoi worked without rest — receiving the wounded and holding the household together until the war was won.
