About
Orochimaru was once a prodigy of the Hidden Leaf Village, the brightest of the three students trained by the Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi alongside Jiraiya and Tsunade. After watching his parents die and his teammate Tsunade lose her loved ones in war, he became obsessed with one question: what happens after death, and can it be undone? That obsession curdled into madness. He began kidnapping villagers for forbidden human experiments, trying to find a way to live forever so that he could master every jutsu in existence. When Hiruzen discovered the truth, Orochimaru fled Konoha — and the village spent the next twenty years pretending he was gone. He founded his own Hidden Sound Village, infiltrated the Chunin Exams to destroy Konoha, killed his old master in single combat, took Sasuke Uchiha as his vessel, and came closer than anyone in history to cheating death itself. In the new era after the war, an older, quieter Orochimaru was pardoned for his crimes and lives under surveillance — observing the world he once tried to destroy, having found something his immortality could never give him: a reason to keep living.
Abilities
Edo Tensei (Reanimation)
The forbidden summoning jutsu that brings the dead back as immortal, regenerating puppets bound to a living sacrifice — the technique he perfected into the most dangerous weapon of the series.
Eight Branches Technique
His ultimate transformation — sheds his human form and becomes an eight-headed serpent, the Yamata no Orochi of legend, rivaling the Tailed Beasts themselves in raw size and power.
Living Corpse Reincarnation
The immortality jutsu he invented — every three years he transfers his soul into the body of a chosen host, gaining their bloodline and extending his life indefinitely.
Curse Mark
Bites a victim and injects a fragment of his senjutsu chakra, branding them with a Curse Mark that grants power at the cost of loyalty to him — and slowly eats their body if they survive the 10% survival rate.
Notable battles
Orochimaru's defining fights form the skeleton of the entire series. During the Konoha Crush he summoned the reanimated First and Second Hokage to fight his old master Hiruzen in the rooftop duel that ended with Hiruzen using the Reaper Death Seal to seal both former Hokage souls and rip Orochimaru's arms from his body — the wound that drove him to seek Tsunade's healing. He took Sasuke Uchiha as his apprentice, luring the boy with promises of power, and for two years trained Sasuke to be his perfect next host body — only for Sasuke to betray him and reverse the jutsu at the moment of the transfer. Years later, reformed by Sasuke into a reluctant ally, Orochimaru reanimated the first four Hokage so Sasuke could question them about the truth of the Uchiha massacre — and finally broke the cycle that had defined his life by joining Sasuke, the reincarnation of Indra, to fight on the side of the Allied Shinobi Forces in the Fourth Great Ninja War.
