About
Hiruzen Sarutobi was the Third Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village — a man whose legend earned him the title of Professor for mastering all five chakra natures and every jutsu that had ever existed within Konoha's walls. Trained personally by the First Hokage Hashirama and the Second Hokage Tobirama, he was a prodigy who took the Hokage seat in his twenties and led the village for over four decades across two terms, stepping down twice and returning twice when his successors Minato and Danzo could not hold the chair. He raised three of the Legendary Sannin — Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru — and the single greatest tragedy of his life was that he could not bring himself to kill the darkest of them in time, a hesitation that finally cost him his own life.
Abilities
Five Nature Mastery
The only shinobi of his era to wield fire, water, earth, lightning, and wind — and even Yin and Yang natures — able to counter and counter-again almost any technique an opponent throws at him.
Monkey King Enma
His personal summon and lifelong companion Enma, the Monkey King, who can transform into the Adamantine Staff — a near-indestructible extending pole that Hiruzen wields in close combat.
Shiki Fujin
The Reaper Death Seal — a forbidden Uzumaki clan technique that summons the death god itself to seal an enemy's soul forever, at the cost of the caster's own life.
Shuriken Shadow Clone
A masterwork application of the Shadow Clone Jutsu to shuriken — one thrown weapon multiplies into thousands of real blades mid-flight, blanketing the battlefield in cutting steel.
Notable battles
Hiruzen's two defining fights bookend his rule. As a younger Hokage he stood against the rampaging Nine-Tailed Fox when it attacked the village, buying time for Minato to seal it into the newborn Naruto. And in his final, heartbreaking clash — the Konoha Crush — an elderly Hiruzen faced his own fallen student Orochimaru and the reanimated First and Second Hokage on the rooftops of his own village. Even outnumbered and outmatched by youthful immortal bodies, he fought them to a standstill, used the Reaper Death Seal to seal both former Hokage souls, ripped Orochimaru's arms from his soul to strip him of his jutsu, and died smiling — having protected the village he loved one last time.
